DC Makers’ Guild Code of Conduct

The District of Columbia Makers’ Guild (DCMG) members are expected to comply with professional standards and ethical practices. Members shall not:

  • maliciously or recklessly injure or attempt to injure, whether directly or indirectly, the professional reputation of others;

  • engage in illegal business activities such as fraud, theft of property or funds, deceptive advertising, or antitrust violations;

  • divulge to any person, firm, or company, information of a confidential nature acquired during the course of professional activities.

The DCMG is a community of members who endeavor to support one another, and flourish in an environment of collaboration and mutual respect. Therefore, DCMG members and guests are required to follow theses expectations when participating in DCMG activities:

  • behave in a safe, mature, courteous, considerate, and responsible manner at all DCMG events and in DCMG’s online spaces;

  • respect others, their property, their opinions, and their work;

  • refrain from engaging in any forms of disruptive, discriminatory, harassing, or bullying behavior;

  • comply with the request to stop any harassing behavior, should another member approach them about this;

  • actively support creating an environment that feels welcoming to all.

No Endorsement

Membership in DCMG does not imply professional status, nor does it constitute an endorsement of skills, services, or goods. Members may use the DCMG logo to denote their membership on their website or professional social media account, but may not use the DCMG logo or DCMG membership status in the marketing of non-DCMG sponsored events, services, or merchandise. 

Reporting & Consequences

If you would like to contact DCMG leadership about an incident that violates the Code of Conduct please contact hello@dcmakers.org. All communications will be received confidentially and addressed by DCMG leadership.

Members who fail to comply with these Standards for Professional Conduct may have their membership terminated following an inquiry and vote by the Board.
